I’m actually really frustrated with my Salem Auto experience. The individual I spoke with was young and professional, and I was told that a diagnostic was performed and that the only issue with my vehicle was that the shift linkage was broken. They ordered the part and got it replaced for me (had to wait, but that was a supply issue and no way reflected on the shop). I never received a price quote for the entire job, and when I picked up my car it was obviously still damaged. In drive, the car was rattling and it felt as though something was tight, and it was very loud. My husband drove my car and confirmed something was still wrong, and drove it back to Salem Auto same day to see if they could help diagnose what else was wrong. The owner insisted they never put my car on the lift and they weren’t responsible for the issue (not the point, I brought my car to them because my car HAD an issue) and we were told my car had not been driven. Turns out they fixed the result of a much more serious problem: my rear motor mount was completely broken, which caused the engine to be tilted and is the reason that my linkage broke in the first place. Had a diagnostic actually been performed, this would have been obvious, and I should have never been able to drive my car off the lot because it wasn’t safe. Thankfully, I was able to get a second set of eyes on my car and the actual issue has been addressed and is getting fixed. I am happy that my linkage was replaced, as that was clearly damaged… but I’m so disappointed that the professionals I trusted to perform a diagnostic and fix my vehicle did it half-way. In the future, I will not be using or recommending Salem Auto.
